Sunday, February 7

Sunday February 9, 2014 - On Tuesday, remember to be here by 8:15 in costume. (no food) I will probably have sandwich stuff for basketball players. We will just go over it once. On Wednesday, I want you here by 7AM.  I'll try to get donuts or something. You will be able to watch Brownfield.  DO NOT take advantage of this.  I said you would be back in class by 11:15.

Everyone
1.       Step on lines
2.       Tucker and Hayden change places during  the dance
3.       Walk out like puppets
4.       Necks need to be limber.
5.       Roll Bigger – when the body twists around
6.       The dance must be perfect and all dancers must be together
7.       During first dance -1/2 go out door left stage and half go out door right stage – do it in same groups as the second dance
8.       Everyone – think about the lines and what each one means to the meaning of the play – do not repeat memorized lines.
9.       Watch straight lines whether they are diagonal, horizontal or vertical.
10.   We must have people noises.
11.   REACT TO LINES.  Every line that is uttered on stage should have a reaction.
12.   Move the set in character.
13.   Levels are needed.
14.   Be sure you can be seen by all three judges.
15.   Quiet backstage.
16.   Second dance needs to be together. Stagger the line in this dance.  We will work on that tomorrow.
17.   Work on diction – hit consonants.
18.   Don’t walk behind scrim
19.   Enter and Exit in character.
20.   Get louder before Graham demands silence
21.   WE need to hear red hot line
22.   DO NOT MESS With HAIR OR CLOTHES
23.   You should know how your character feels.  When is he more outgoing – happy? When is he not?  This needs to be figured out by you.  Do you know why you are doing it?
24.   Enter immediately after Ty’s monologues.
25.   There should be no pregnant pauses.
26.   In the first scene, after everyone is crazy, the loudness must die slowly because you are trying to figure out what the excitement is coming into the ward.
27.   Levels in chicken scene.
28.   React to Harding’s glowing remarks about Ratched.
29.   When aides come in, patients exit – cheese it scene.
30.   React when Candy comes in and when she leaves.
31.   When Ratched passes in your proximity, move as if you are scared of her.
32.   We must hear red hot can of beer.
33.   People noises after patients are looking for mac.
34.   Whenever one patient becomes upset, everyone does.  This is several times during this show.

Austin
Be rude and mean
Don’t be blocked in Candy scene.
Warren
Remember to freeze –
Remember to exit left stage after you get the money and whiskey.

Sydney
More authority – especially after the first fight.
Louder when music is on.
Walk with authority – each time you walk.
Turn off TV instead of unplugging it.
Louder what was that activity.
Cheat more in therapy sessions.
Lines seem rehearsed.
Be sure to interrupt Harding when needed.  Step on lines.
When Billy raises his hand. Say Billy to recognize him.
Watch posture.
Haven’t you gentlemen  - more authority. I see – controlling your anger.
When you are taking away privileges, this is a fight you have to win.
Aides
You are the first words we hear besides the chief’s.  Speak clearly and hit consonants. Be afraid of Ratched when she speaks directly to you. Do not walk aimlessly.  You have been given jobs to do.
One of you whistle when entering
Get Brodie when he is standing and let him sit.
When you walk through, laugh, whistle – drink when you have flashlights. Move the desk for the therapy session.
Billy
Don’t smoke – Great job today. Don’t knock over trash can and expose light.
Tucker and Sydney
Cheat out in group meetings.
Cheswick
Slow down
Cheswick and Martini
Don’t sit the same and cheer the same.
Savannah
Use lower register of voice.
Ty
Louder
Why random yell in first monologue?
Don’t cross body with gestures.  Use upstage hand.
Go through the door.
Maxine
Did not hear your line about the place being crazy
Watch talking upstage.
Where are the cat eye glasses.
Lights
Can we put a light on the box at the end when Ty is trying to pick it up?
Turn on lights on Martini, Cheswick, and Scanlon at the end, then when they finish talking, turn it off.
Red light at end of show before blackout.
Jared
Work on thinking through the lines. Give enough time to pause.
Hit consonants.  Your diction will be judged more harshly than others.  React more to Nurse Ratched’s description of you.
Names at the beginning.
We need to see you being amazed by the gum.  Slide under on your back and look at them.
Have to wear sunglasses everytime we take a pee.
Nolan
Freeze at the beginning.
Tucker and Mac O
Work on dances
Brodie
Be on floor in straight jacket toward the beginning of the play.
Paige & Tucker

Paige & Aides
After party scene, make sure that meds and alcohol is removed or locked up.
Paige
Work on whininess.
Martini
We need more of your character. Work on walk and smiles.
Scanlon
Work on craziness more – extremely paranoid.
Crazier when speaking of being bombed. Don’t yell each line.  Maybe a certain word within each line and you never know which one it is going to be.
Graham
Say hate her faster.
No man could lift that – that should not be a question.
Tucker
Learn lines so that they sound natural.  Make sure you understand what each line means.  At the beginning, be in a strait jacket instead of wheel chair.
Nathan
Move so that  you are not blocked.

Missed Lines- DO NOT REWORD YOUR LINES. AT DISTRICT, THERE WILL BE SOMEONE IN THE AUDIENCE WITH THE SCRIPT.
Warren
Sweet thing.  You want some help
Mac
What do you say?  - Missed this line Thursday too.
Billy
With Candy?
They made fun of me.
Scanlon

Said he was out to take us and by Jupiter he has done it! - Missed this line Thursday too.
Spivey
Yes?
Ratched
I believe an operation…- Missed this line Thursday too.
Harding
But Mac…

  1. I need to work on being a mental patient, not a regular person. Scanlon is very crazy. He is so uneasy and very worried everyone is out to get him. I need to show this. I also need to change the tone on my lines maybe one time I would be yelling but another time real soft and scared like. I love bombs and therefore any line I have dealing with bombs I need to show how excited that makes me.

  2. I need to work on being mean and very rude to everyone except my workmates. I also need to work on staying in character with Brodie. Since we are performing in two days, we really need to step up our performances in rehearsals.

  3. I believe that our biggest problem at this moment is our transitions. They are incredibly slow; if we were to cut down and annhilate most of this time we would be much closer to where we need to be. If we could stay on stage as much as possible I believe it would really help with these transitions. Another problem-sorry Cheyanne- was all of our music cues being off. I believe our transitions (as well as our freezes) will go more smoothly once our music is flawless- this includes both dances.

  5. I need to thrash around more once I'm in the straight jacket so that I can show the reason why I was put in it in the first place

  6. I think Warren and Williams need to kinda be friends, but at the same time, you are both miserable people so you'd get on each others nerves. That goes for everybody. Also, we need to develop character relationships, like maybe Scanlon hating Martini or something.

  8. For the characters y'all all need to learn you lines and have your masks for BOTH dances. Then I feel that some ways the chronics are smoking is distracting.

  10. I think Mrs. Ratchet needs to be more involved with the patients, and not necessarily helping them, but there needs to be more interaction. Then there is hardly any "people talk" being said, that creates awkward pauses.

  11. The problem gambling causes the most suicides out of all the recognized addictions and the harmful social effects of gambling are it forces the poor to stay poor. Mrs. Ratchet needs to treat this problem as a big issue.

  13. Wednesday is a very important day being our first clinic. We all need to be committed to our characters that day to impress Frida and get an upper hand on other schools. Also I need to look through the transitions and the different scenes to see what is needed for each one, as it is one of my main jobs to have the props out when they need to be, and clean them up afterwards. If someone can help me with props needing to be moved please do, and if anyone needs a certain prop moved at any certain point during theshow let me know perferable before Wednesday. -Paige

  14. I neeee to be more of a flirt in the first scene I'm in. I don't have any lines with any of the characters besides Mcmurphy so I need to really show off my personality with my body language, and make a bigger entrance as well.

  15. I need to scoot the chair to where its more of an angle with the table so that I naturally cheat out. But how do I look at Jared and talk to the audience at the same time, I guess that's another thing we will have to work on during rehearsal.
