10. We
will have another one the week of March 3.
11. Students
will be expected to be extremely familiar with the script for the audition. YOU
MAY BRING A PROP TO HELP YOUR CHARACTER. You may ask for parts in advance;
however, the directors may place you in another part.
12. Parts
are not SET in STONE. The directors may choose to move actors and crew
around.
Please return completed packet to
Mrs. Couch (high school) or Mrs. McCrady in the office by December 5 by 3:30.
13. Compliance and punctuality reflect
interest in participating in one-act.

15. Thank you for your interest. Please
contact me if you have any questions or concerns.

17. Tentatively, dates and times have
been set for rehearsals. By signing the parental form, the
student and parents are aware of these practice times and all the information
within the packet.
18. Please pay attention to the
calendars. **** You and your parents
must mark and list all conflicts. Make
sure that you mark conflicts on weekends. Communicate with your teachers and coaches
and ensure that there are no conflicts.
19. The packet must be completed with no blank answers. Answer the
open-ended questions thoughtfully. I read each one and sometimes form an
opinion based on the completeness of the answer.
20. Understand
that a part or a job is not set in stone. If any student is not improving each
rehearsal, he/she may lose his/her part or position.
21. Students should bring books and
assignments to rehearsals so that they can study during “off” times. One-act
play differs from any other activity.
Ineligible students jeopardize
the entire ensemble.
22. The goal of one-act is to be an
ensemble; the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. Synergy is the process of unity… going under
fire and becoming stronger as a unit.
23. Students
must be on time for each rehearsal and must stay for the entire rehearsal
unless arrangements have been made one week in advance (this does not include ill
students). 3 UNEXCUSED TARDIES = ONE ABSENCE
24. Grounds for dismissal from the
program are chronic tardies (more
than three unexcused), unexcused absences (more than three), not supporting
each cast and crew member, and dishonesty with the director.
25. Students
MUST comment on the blog – http://shallowatersoneflewoverthecuckoosnest.blogspot.com/
This is a credited class,
and most of the grades will depend on blog comments. There are several ways to follow a blog. One of
the easiest ways is to visit a blog that has added the Following widget and

Audition
Sheet
There
are only four female parts in this play. We only have two senior girls;
however, the women who audition best and who have shown a consistent work ethic
in the past will be considered equally.
I don’t know if I stated this correctly, but OAP is like a sport. The ones who perform best will receive the
roles. There will also be opportunities
for understudies to move up.
37. Why are you interested in trying out
for one-act as an actor or crew member (Do not give me the same answer you have
given since middle school)?
38. Do you believe that you can commit to a project like
this and work with a group, understanding that the group is more important than
the individual? Why? How can you help the ensemble? HOW CAN YOU HELP NEW CAST AND CREW MEMBERS FEEL WELCOME?
39. Will you be content with a role that
is not one of the leads or will you be content as a member of the crew? Why?
38. Do you realize that rehearsing
for the one-act play is a commitment that entails practicing at least eight
hours per week outside of the school day, and are you willing to spend that
time with at least twenty-three other people?
Why are you willing to make this commitment?
40. What
is the main idea of this play – in your own words?
41. Describe three of the key characters in
your own words – sentences.
42. Who is your
favorite character and WHY?
43. What
character do you want to audition for? OR what crew part do you want to have?
44. Define
the following terms:
·
Post traumatic stress disorder
·
Schizophrenia
·
Bipolar disorder
·
Obsessive compulsive disorder

45. This student has not been referred to
my office for behavior problems at school.
He/she has not had excessive absences and/or tardies. From my knowledge of the student’s
character, I believe he/she would be an asset to the one-act play ensemble (If
there are concerns, please contact Cindy Couch at the high school, extension
2239 or email ccouch@shallowaterisd.net).

PERMISSION FORM
46. My child,
_____________________________, and I have read the requirements for the class
of theater production/one act play. We
have discussed times and practices. I am
willing to support my child as well as the cast and crew by ensuring that
he/she will be prompt and will not miss practices. I realize that the success of this production
is vitally important to the middle school UIL program and that my son/daughter
will do his/her best to adhere to all performance rules.

By signing
this, you and your child agree with the following and will follow these
guidelines or face removal from the group.
Ms.
Couch is the director. She makes the
decisions on casting, staging and other decisions that come up. I will not complain about the show to anyone
else. If I have a problem or concern, I
will talk to Ms. Couch, Ms. Kuehler or Ms. Griffis privately.
I will
be at every rehearsal, festival, performance and contest. If I have an
emergency or a conflict, I will call Ms. Couch prior immediately.
I will
not put my personal desires above the group.
I will not miss any of the scheduled dates for personal desires- such as
trips or things that conflict with our dates.
The exception is the conflict of another UIL contest, but you need to
remember that this is a group effort and you will put the ensemble above your
personal desires.
I will
not spread myself too thin. I will not
be involved in so many things that OAP suffers.
I will make this a priority. If 2 things are going on at the same time,
I will put OAP first and not make the group suffer. Mark calendars ahead of
time so that we can avoid conflicts.
I will
not fuss or bicker with anyone in the ensemble, or talk about other cast
members behind their backs .If I do and it becomes a problem, then I face the
possibility of removal.
I will do what Ms. Couch says when she says to
do it. I will not put off my jobs. I
will clean, feed lines, pick up costumes and trash with a cheerful spirit.
I
WILL NOT GRIPE!
I will learn my lines and blocking promptly.
I will
listen to what Ms. Couch says and not complain about my costume or
make-up.
I will
be happy with whatever part I get or role I play in the ensemble including
alternate or crew.
I will be responsible for the costumes and
props that I am given. I will not bother
another person’s costumes or props. I will bring my script to every rehearsal.

present at auditions if they want to be part of OAP this year.
