Revisions -January 19

Spivey(Keep this & cut the rest) - Patients must remain seated. This ward is a democratic society in miniature. The important thing is not to let anything fester inside you.  Write id down in the log for all to see.  Do you know what this procedure is called?

Spivey -keep - Group therapy? Bring those old guilts out into the open!

Ratched - CUT - to counteract certain tendencies within yourself?  Would you say part of the problem is that she finds you less than masculine?

Harding - CUT -Miss Ratched is a veritable angel of mercy...and.. why, she has no life, nothing but her work and everybody knows it.

Everyone - use the two pylons as doors on left and right stage. React to Mac coming in.

Mac - look at everyone before you begin to speak to the chief.

Tucker - more authority as Spivey.

Whenever anything is dropped, Martini hides under a chair.

Austin suggested a table with arts and crafts for patients to work at.

A great job today! Think about your characters.  Each one is different.

Text me sometime today about T shirt colors - choose red, white or black.  The design you chose was the nurse's cap with the bird on it.   I know some of my actors and crew will not text, so majority rules whoever texts first.

A quote from Mark Twain -No one is sane, straight along, year in and year out, and we all know it. Our insanities are of varying sorts, and express themselves in varying forms--fortunately harmless forms as a rule.

  1. During the clock dance, we have very stiff movements. After watching the Chicago video, I realized that puppets would not be able to move like this. During the song, the puppets never completely outstretch their knees, wrists, necks, or elbows, but these extremities actually hang half way between limp and firm. The dance we have choreographed seems more like robots to me. Which, don't get me wrong, is perfectly fine. In fact, I love the choreography Maxine has done; she is a brilliant choreographer. I just wanted to point out that we have not been doing the dance quite like puppets.

  2. You are right. Maxine followed my instructions - but after looking at the script and Chicago, everyone must be together but more fluid and clumsy.

  3. I think that the Pylons instead of the doors clears up the stage tremendously, and is somewhat more symbolistic of that the Ward is only really controlled by our fear, and that the Nurse has no real power. Also they are really heavy.
